A Theology of Fatherhood

I am not one to brag, but I do believe I have the most beautiful daughter in the world! Mikayla will be turning three on April 19th. Emily is due April 20th so we decided to have her birthday party a few weeks early to coincide with Dana's birthday. She received her first bicycle and many other things worthy of a princess. It was neat to see her open her gifts. We have been very careful not to "overly" spoil her because we want her to appreciate the gifts she is given. She always is appreciative and lets us know that it is special to her.

Mikayla is growing up so fast. It is hard to believe that she is almost three already. I can truly say that she has been an easy child for us to raise. God definitely knew what He was doing when He sent us Mikayla. She is a talker, strong willed (stubborn) like her daddy, gentle like her mother, and has several other positive traits that are uniquely hers. She is in a good mood most of the time and has a laugh that is out of this world.

There is something truly spiritual about being a parent. Mikayla makes me feel like a million dollars when I come home. She comes running to the door screaming "Daddy I missed you!" She acts if I have been gone forever, but I am sure from her point of view it seems like an eternity. I am sure this is what we will all be like in Heaven one day. We will be excited to see our Father who loves us so much. It will seem like our Father has been gone forever, but the reality is that He was always there.

Do yourself a favor today and hug your children. Tell them that you love them. Play with them till you get tired and then do it some more. Let them know that they are important. Our heavenly Father does this for us, don't our earthly children deserve the same?
